ALL: It will come as no surprise that we're canceling the September camp out that was scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Port Saint Lucie RV Resort. Many of us still have no power, and some of us are not even sure of the status of our RV(. (We went down to our storage area this morning (Christmas Storage off RT 50 in Christmas) and the road going into the facility was completely flooded so we couldn't even get in).
Duane and Mel are still without power as are Nina and Robert Harnish (prospective new members) and the Brenn's, also prospective new members who we camped with in Saint Augustine last month.
At any rate, Duane is calling the campground to officially cancel, and I told him I'd do the email as he can't. Alice and myself hope everyone has made it through this ordeal safely and that any damage is minimal to you and yours. Sorry for the late notice, but I didn't want to call it off prior to its happening as hurricane hits in Florida are known for last minute changes....and I was eternally optimistic. We did get lucky here, but were not totally spared as it turns out. Personally, we're very thankful for the blessings received.

Information on our first campout for the new camping year has been posted to the Current activitiesCurrent Activities and Campouts tabs.
Silver Springs State Park, May 2017
This was our 2nd outing for 2017 to a Florida State Park and the group consensus seems to be “Keep them coming!” Silver Springs is a great facility, and a very pleasant drive from the Space Coast area. I want to go back!
This camp out was hosted by John and Loretta Schnitzius assistied by Dean Hunter and John Silong. Thank you for an EXCELLENT hosting job! The photo’s of the food and prep in the album tell the story :).
We signed up a returning former member, Hal and Mary Ann Sullins with Julie. They were out of camping for a bit, just purchased a new rig and they're back. Welcome! Also, it was nice seeing Joe and Alex Godleski....this was their second camp out with us.
Chairman Mel Fringer announced that our next Refuge Cleanup activity will be held on Thursday, May 18th....meet at the Visitors Center at 9am. This will be followed by lunch at New York, New York for anyone who cares to participate.
Saturday, September 30, 2017 The Minutes from the May business meeting have been published to our Documents Tab.

Spring Rally at Okeechobee KOA (click link at left for complete album of snaps and clips from the Rally)
We just returned from Okeechobee KOA on Sunday April 30th, and what a nice Rally! Members present were myself and Sheriff Alice, the Fringer’s, the Schnitzius’s, former and soon-to-be current members Hal and MaryAnn Sullins, and prospective new members Robert and Anne Bennett from Titusville and Robert and Nina Harnish from Melbourne. So, there were twelve of us at the daily Adjustment Hours and opening and closing ceremonies and other events such as Samgo, going out to dinner etc.
A few incidentals on the Rally so you can keep things in perspective on the above photo-video album:
Dotti won at Bingo, and she NEVER does!
We had a real nice location at the corner of Alabama and Mississippi Ave.very close to the main activity building.
Our group did donuts on Thursday April 27th..¦.can you believe 60 dozen came in from Walmart?
As per tradition, Space Coast Sams donated four $25.00 Walmart Gift Certificates for the Saturday Night door prizes. On Saturday night they gave away over 90 door prizes to the folks who stuck it out to the end.
New State Directors Tommy and Lois Crutchfield are REALLY trying to do a good job in running these Rally’s and it shows. We were impressed, and Alice and myself are planning on attending the Fall Rally in Eustis and the Winter Rally in Tallahassee. It really is an inexpensive way to have a great time for a week or so, and do it with like-minded people.
The Friday night entertainment was a group called The McMillans out of Tennessee, and they were excellent. I recorded several bits from their set and will include them with the photo’s that will be published in the next few days.
Saturday late afternoon the twelve of us went out to supper at a restaurant called “The Cowboys” and it was excellent with a very wide-ranging menu. Anyone ever tried Fried Corn? It’s amazingly good! :).
There were a total of 330 rigs at the Rally. Only a half dozen or so Chapters did Chapter Raffles, but they did very well and reported income of about three to four times their cost. Something to think about as we move forward?
There will be a Chapter Parade at the Fall Eustis Rally. I’ll put out details on it as I receive it from State.
Lastly, Asst. State Directors Larry and Judy Brighton asked me to say hello to everyone for them, and they look forward to meeting up with everyone at Eustis in the Fall.
Hello Chapter Presidents
WE still have some open sites available for our Spring Rally in Okeechobee.
Please contact your members and let them know they can still get in, but need to rush a registration or contact me and I will put them on the spreadsheet and they can pay at registration.

March 27th: Minutes have been published to the Documents Tab. Note: Payette’s won the 50-50 Raffle and $33.00 is being turned into our Treasurer.
March 23, 2017: Today we returned from our Lazy Days-Hillsborough River State Park jaunt, and what a great time we had! Our sites at Lazy Days were excellent, and they provided us with breakfast and lunch tickets for the three days of our camp out. During this camp out it was decided to change the May event, and we’re now scheduled in to Silver Springs State Park in May. See our Current Activities tab for further information, but the reservations for this event have to be made thru Reserve America either on-line or by telephone. Contact Wagon master Duane with any questions or issues. After Lazy Days a group of us continued down the road to the Hillsboro River State Park. It’s quite a difference from a commercial operation like Lazy Days, but it was quiet, wooded, and very peaceful. Photos and video from both events are being posted linked here: https://goo.gl/photos/dNnEfr3yxFYyK9XF6
We have added an “Extra” camp-out for June, 2017.
Ocklawaha KOA RV Resort on Rodman Lake, February 2017:
Our group returned from Ocklawaha on February 5th after a nice extended weekend. Have you heard of “the back of beyond”?. Well, this campground is behind THAT. If you go Left out of the campground to get to the nearest Wal-mart in Palatka you're in for a 20 mile drive on a dirt forest road. Exciting! That being said, this is a very nice, and quiet and well maintained campground and a lot of our members really liked it. We had guests, Joe and Alex Gabaski and their pooch Foxie for their first campout with our group. They'll be joining us next month at our Lazy Days camp out in Tampa. Hosts Ken and Nancy and Mel and Dottie did an excellent job, as usual, with breakfast and the planning of the Saturday evening Pot Luck. Of course our Nancy was up to her elbows in decorating :).
Photos and video are linked from the Photo-Video tab.
Next month, at Lazy Days, Bob and Alice will be Hosts. We'll take care of a full breakfast and plan on a pot luck for Saturday night. We'll provide a spiral ham and you can bring sides to go with it.
International RV Resort, Daytona Beach Florida January 2017:
The camp out to International RV Resort was our first “Chilly” one...the temps were down Saturday night and Sunday, but anything under 80 deg. with this crew has folks grabbing sweaters and putting the central heat on :). We covered a lot at our Saturday business meeting, and we're now on the path to revised Chapter SOP’s. The resort cooked up and served a nice Saturday dinner for us, and photos from that and other activities are posted to our Photo and Video tab. Our Board was sworn in by ASD Larry Brighton, Donna led us in a spirited Mrs.Right game and it was another fun Chapter weekend. This coming Wednesday January 11th we'll meet at the Reserve for our clean-up activity which is always bracing.
Blueberry Hill-Wreaths Across America Campout to Bushnell Florida, December 2016:
What a busy weekend! Our group of seven rigs arrived on Thursday December 15th. After a brief Adjustment Hour we decided to go out for Mexican fare, and it was good. Friday morning we started the day early with coffee and donuts, immediately followed by our business meeting. The minutes will be posted to our Documents tab as soon as I receive them from substituting Secretary Donna. Late Friday Donna and Murray sponsored a “New Rig” wine and cheese event, immediately followed by a hot dog roast. Great job and it was All good!
Saturday was especially hectic as we started the day by traveling to the Florida National Cemetery for the Wreaths Across American ceremonies. On return to camp we fired up the stoves for our annual Christmas food event that was centered on a Chapter supplied spiral ham. It was all delicious :). Afterwards Donna led us in the Liars game: Our three liars were Mel, Bill and Murray, all equally shifty for sure! :). Bill and Lynn are transferring with the Navy to Long Island NY and we all said an emotional and heartfelt good-by....we’re going to miss them! I'm posting photos and video clips to our Photos tab right now...
Meeting Minutes from this camp-out December 2016: December, 2016 (this link will open a PDF).
Fall Rally, November 2016 notes from the President:
We had five rigs at this Rally which is a bit lite for us, but we do have some aging and rig issues. Attending were the Payette’s, Snyder’s, Hunter-Silong, Davis’s and Derleth’s. The weather was perfect, and we had a good time but little luck in the raffles. Photo’s and video clips are linked below and on the Photo-Video tab on this site. Our new State Director Tommy and Lois Crutchfield have been sworn in, they have a budget, and their first event will be the Rally at Tally in February. A link to the Rally Application is appended below. It was noted at the Presidents meeting I attended that ALL of the activities in Tally are inside in two huge, heated and air-conditioned buildings. At the Eustis Fall Rally we had 335 member rigs and 18 Staff rigs.
It was voted, at the Presidents meeting, to donate $5000 each to the three primary Florida Good Sam Charities, Dogs for the Deaf, Florida Guide Dogs and Camp Boggy Creek.
Your Chapter Officers are meeting shortly to finalize plans for the December 2016 camp-out and Christmas Party to be held at the next event in Bushnell. Keep an eye out for details on that which will be emailed to all Members and Associates.
November 2016, Fall Rally, Eustis Snaps and Video hot off the camera!! :).
Winter Rally in Tally, Feb 15-19, 2017 Click here for link to the application.
Lastly, Immediate Past President and long-time Secretary Clyde and Maxie Johnson are selling their rig and will not be renewing their active membership. An email on that has been sent to all members. Lets all wish Clyde and Maxie well in this transition in their lives....we’ll miss them a lot!!
